I promised myself that I wouldn't get an iphone but when the free unlocking software/method was released, I couldn't stop myself. Unlocked it and am running it on my old, cheapo pre-cingular ATT plan and don't use edge, just wifi and phone. It's simply AMAZINGLY nice. I haven't been this excited by a gadget for many years, if ever.

There is only one very tiny issue that I want to ask about. I've noticed that the lower part of the display is ever-so-slightly more off-white (or dimmer perhaps) than the the upper part. It's ALMOST not noticeable, but I do see it when there is a lot of white - reminds me of all the issue with the MBP LED displays. Is this common? I suspect that there is slight uneven illumination going on and that the display is lit from the top and gets slightly darker at the bottom. The display looks amazing, except for this..

Any feedback? Am I being too picky to even notice this inconsistency? If this is common, I'll accept it. If it's unusual, I might try to get a replacement.

Thanks!

I'm no expert, but i'm pretty sure its not uncommon. If it annoys you enough you can call apple and see what sort of support they offer for this.

Yeah, I kind of suspected that. I was hoping to be re-assured that it's pretty normal, so that I don't have to feel that I got one that just wasn't good. As I mentioned, besides that very slight brownishness at the bottom when viewing pages with a lot of white, it's perfect.

thanks...
