Not just for MBP's but other flat-sitting (i.e. the base / keyboard doesn't slope) laptops in general. I'd like to raise machines like this by an inch at most at the back, but not using those laptop cooler plates.

Does anyone sell just feet which you can prop the laptops up on which are packaged well for travelling? I was thinking about making my own out of squidgy plastic but if I don't have to reinvent the wheel that'd be nice.

Looks like it. Thanks for the link.

On the Merom tip:

I've taken delivery of a couple of Merom Dells... and there isn't much difference in terms of performance from the MBP. Both run at the same clock speed in my case and I think you'll only actually see real differences on higher-clocked versions. Which means it's not really worth getting excited about right now.

My guess is that Apple have been waiting for later versions of C2D to be available for this reason, because if they release a C2D MBP now the two gazillion people who have posted in this board with "WHEN'S MEROM MBP OUT?" and built themselves up to a climax of hype are going to be posting "WTF IT DOESNT MAKE A DIFFERENCE" if they get a current C2D

Quite apart from the processor, what I was stoked about on the Dells was that I got a significantly better-engineered laptop than the MBP with support levels that blow Applecare out of the water for a lot less.

Edit: Coolfeet looks good too, but the 4-feet approach may invite loss more. What the heck, I might give both a try.
Edit of edit: Didn't realise you could just pop on whichever feet you wanted on Cool Feet. I've just ordered two sets of these. thanks.
