Proper International Shipping Procedures on eBay?

I sold my iPad because I decided I wanted the 3G one and now I need to ship it out. I see that Paypal offers customs forms, etc. is it that easy?

Can I do this at home without a post office? Help from anyone thats' done it before please?

If it makes a difference it's going to New Zealand.
