Has anyone tried to enable ProRes video on the M2 iPad Pro camera? There doesn’t seem to be a toggle anywhere in settings or in the app itself.

  1. Head into Settings, then tap the Camera section.
  2. Select Formats.
  3. Under Video Capture, toggle on the ProRes option.

Exactly where it should be, but there is no option there. I called Apple support and they said they may have to “clarify” the advertising as the M2 iPad Pro cannot actually capture ProRes footage from the camera. Very misleading if true.

I am also experiencing the same issue. Definitely got the M2 iPad Pro and 16.1 installed.

It's not just in the advertising, it's plainly stated in the tech specs on the Apple website under "Video recording":

Apple said:
ProRes video recording up to 4K at 30 fps (1080p at 30 fps for 128GB storage)
I'd suspect it's a bug.

I brought this up to the Apple support technician and they seemed surprised by the news that this was a feature on the new iPad Pro. I'm hoping you're right, and it's a quick software update to fix.

You're probably giving them a bit too much credit, they're just call centre staff who are providing support via a flow chart.

When I was a Mac Service Technician I took no interest in new hardware and learned most of it as I came across it for the first time.
