I was dead-set on getting the 12 Mini, and after that announcement I am reconsidering. Not because I am disappointed with the 12 mini but because I am so impressed with the way they cut size and weight of the 6.1" iPhone 12. I have a 7 now, and looking at this chart, the 12 mini is just a bit smaller, and the 12 just a bit bigger. I do like the extra battery life of the 6.1" 12! Decisions decisions...

Same boat as you, currently with the 7 and was deadset on the 12mini prior to the event. Before the 7 I had a 5 and held onto it as long as I could due to the size. I've gotten used to the size of the 7 but going a tad bigger and a full ounce heavier - when i could go smaller, lighter and a bigger screen.. well that just is a slam dunk for the mini.

Since the 12 is available first, I might order that and see if I like it for 2 weeks. If not, we'll be almost at the mini launch date - but I have a feeling I'll actually be fine with the 6.1" 12, given the flat sides.

This might be a good idea. I want a mini but hmmmmmm

Same here. I was considering the Mini before the official announcement, but now I'm going with the 12. Especially since the weight is less than my 11 Pro.

I was super excited about the Mini when is was rumored to start at $649 with 128GB, The reality is $729 (SIM-Free) for 64GB or $779 for 128GB (SIM-Free) makes me reconsider.

I was so sure I would want the mini, but I'm concerned about battery life. This isn't usually something that I consider, but I have to use my phone as a hotspot a lot these days and I need my battery to last. I have also realized I'd like a larger screen and with the flat edges of the 12, the phone should be more manageable for me.

Before this event I was dead set getting a small iPhone 12. But now I'm on the fence. Why?

1. Nothing mini about the mini. It's just slightly smaller than the phablets Apple call iPhones these days
2. The cost is really high. I was looking around the 1K mark in my region, but the cheapest is like $1199.

This kind of phone needs to be affordable and phone sized. Apple failed on both here.

I was dead set on the mini, but the battery specs are such a big drop-off from my 11 pro that it's a non-starter for me. I like the new form factor, but can't justify the upgrade so I'm sticking with my 11 pro.

Perfect size, still one handed (the 12 is still slightly too large for 1 handed use), getting a great OG SE vibe. Remember the old SE -X concept photos from years ago.

I was dead set on it originally, but I printed out some cardboard mockups and it's pretty small for my hands. I love the idea of a smaller phone but without having it hands on it's hard to say. I'm currently coming from an iPhone 11 Pro which is sometimes too heavy and hard to reach parts of the screen.

I’ve been using an 11 Pro and while the size is ideal it feels too heavy to me. I was set on the 12 Mini but after looking at the comparisons now I’m leaning towards the 12. The 12 is basically the 11 Pro just lighter. I’ve really appreciated the battery life of the 11 Pro so I’m not sure if I would be willing to move to a device with a smaller battery.

However, I use the 11 Pro one handed a lot so it would be nice to have a smaller iPhone to make one handed use even easier.

This is definitely a tougher decision than I thought it would be.

That mock-up was remarkably close, just a few years early I guess!

I have a 12 ordered and ready for pickup in the morning but considering canceling and waiting for the mini. This after expecting to get the 12pro for the last 11 months, but I’m not into that much weight and shininess!
