Hi All, first of all sorry if this question has already been asked but I couldn't find any threads. What solutions have you found to protect the back of your iPad Pro. I wish that Apple sold a full cover and top but they don't (I don't think or have seen).

Just a few questions:

1) Do you think they don't sell a full cover on the back because of heat issues (like it overheating)?
2) Are you as freaked out as I am about dropping your iPad and scratching the back?
3) Did you find an Apple quality back that works well and looks amazing?

I hate 3rd party solutions because they look ugly so I'm hoping that people have found some great solutions.

Thanks!

If you go over to the Accessories area for iPad, there is a pinned thread at the top regarding this question, but in short, no, I don't think Apple plans on selling the Silicone Back covers anymore. You can tell by the way the new Smart Covers and Apple Smart Keyboards fit.

For the record, I got the Tech21 back cover for my 10.5" Pro, and it's quite nice.

I've used icarbons skin on all my ipads and iphones since I got the first modell in 2011. I don't like a case as it adds extra bulk to the device. Never dropped any ipads, though the iphones have hit the ground several times. So far so good.

I use the Incipio Feather. It's technically for the 1st Gen 12.9 but fits perfectly except it blocks the mic holes. A few tiny drill holes and works great. What I love about the Feather is, as it's name suggests, it's light. I had a generic back case briefly and while just a few .oz heavier it made the 12.9 feel a bit brickish. I like to keep my iPads as light as possible but also give them a touch of protection to keep them clean for resale.

The Feather can be tough to find though. I got mine on eBay for $14 shipped.

So, crazy idea, what if I just don't cover it? Has anyone scratched the back of their iPad Pro while not covered?

I have an Otterbox defender case on my 10.5. I bought at bestbuy. Funny thing is, I couldn't find this case on their website. I just wish it was waterproof

it's all relative. One needs to balance ease of use, weight, making ones "device life" easy against the possibility of scratches in daily use. Also how much one would be bothered by scratches, assuming the scratches are not severe and how healthy the preoccupation is, needs to be considered.

I've seen people on MR really get bent out of shape about the slightest blemish. I scratch my head and wonder how they might react to facing organ loss or cancer, god forbid. It's only an iDevice.

Then there are the relative financial balanced. If light scratches, indicative of normal use, reduce the value of the device, by "X" amount, but you spend "Y" amount for the added protection, is it really worth being preoccupied with protection?

I purchased the IPP 12.9. I am using both the SC and ASK. Neither offers back protection. I rarely take my iPad outside. I also have the SFbags Muzetto leather bag, for when I take my iPad outside (rare).

I am not immune to iDevice crazyness. I went so far as to try the Apple leather sleeve, to eliminated the remote possibility of back scratches, while using the device at home. My husband helped me to see, how "strung out" I was getting, about protecting the iPad from normal use.

Enjoy your device and try to make using it as hassle free and light as possible. Enjoy it.

*Hugs* I was thinking this. :) I think I'm going to just use the apple slip case, keyboard front cover and just be happy. Thank you for posting this. :) :)

What is an Apple slip case? Do you mean the Apple Leather Sleeve?

How do the corners by the keyboard/smart cover cutout fit on yours? I have this case too and I really love it, but the corners by where the long cutout is do not fit correctly on the iPad. Luvvitt promised me they were going to update the fit of the case and send me a replacement unit "in a week or two" but it never happened.
