I know someone who is getting a Macbook and will use it at his job. Thing is his hands get really dirty and no matter how much scrubbing etc.. is done they still dirty things up. He has an iPod mini and it has some grease marks/smudges on it. He doesn't want this to happen to his Macbook. The thought was to go with the black Macbook which should hide any of that, but regardless of color what could be used to protect the keyboard and general surface of the laptop?

Awesome. I'll see if he would want something for the palm rests as well. Have you heard of anything that will protect that area too?

Now that I think of it does this impact any heat dissipation coming up through the keyboard?

The kit also comes with a screen cleaner. Tell your friend not to touch the glossy screen with dirty hands though, depending on what's on them it can be a bitch to clean regardless of what you use.

About the heat: Yes, it will impede heat flow a little bit. I don't know how the macbook is constructed & can't remember from playing with one at the store, but if its like the Macbook Pro the main (only) heat vent should be at the rear where the hinge is for the screen.
