ProximityLock was released today and so I had to try it. Works great, only problem for me was phone calls.

There was a suggestion of ProximityActivator 2, which as it turns out, I already had installed but never got around to configuring. My intent is to lock/unlock my phone using the proximity sensor.

Still the same problem though, triggering on a phone call.

A little investigation inside Activator though and I had forgotten that Activator has a blacklist.

I added the Phone app to that list and also Callbar, since I use that.

So, now I have it working the way I want. Wave my hand or tap the proximity sensor and my phone locks/unlocks (if the screen is on at the lockscreen) but normal functionality when Callbar or the Phone app are being used.

Thought I'd pass this along if anyone is interested in this concept/idea for Activator.

I dunno...having the phone unlock just by waving your hand or being near it seems pretty lax.

Ymmv.

Any noticeable impact on battery life?
None that I can tell. I had to modify things a bit because I erroneously keep tripping the sensor when I'm in an app.

That would pretty much cover Activator's entire purpose now wouldn't it?

I mean, if I'm not going to be lax anymore then why the hell would I use Activator at all? ;)

I was just going to say something similar, one of the settings I have in Activator is that on lock screen I can press the home button twice to take a camera shot or three times to launch the camera app.

Now I could just do it the normal way that you would on an un-jailbroken phone but that would be.....o_O

Exactly.

What's the point of jailbreaking if all we're going to do is do it the stock way?!

You misunderstand me...I have custom actions myself (triple press home button takes screenshot, pressing volume up and down buttons brings up custom volume controls, etc).

I just think having the phone unlock so easily negates the security in the advent of the phone getting stolen, etc.

Ahh, I see!

And I would totally agree with you on that.

However, I have (and always have had) a passcode on my phone. Activator does not allow you to skip that.
