PS: creating a perfect circle?

I'm trying to design an ultimate frisbee for my team, using photoshop. But I can't work out how to make a perfect circle that is 11in lenght and 300dpi as a background?????

I use Gimp these days for graphics, but if I remember right you should be able to hold down the shift key as you drag out a the circle shape and that'll keep it in perfect circle form rather than oval. To make it 11in exactly you'd probably just have to watch the measurement as you draw it out (can't remember where if at all it shows the measurement). Sorry I can't be more specific.

there are measurement fields up top that you can type in 11". select the circle tool and click once and you should have a perfect circle. or you can hold the shift key and drag a perfect circle until you hit 11" with a guide drawn from the rulers.

Create new document.
Make it 11" in length and 11" in width.
300 dpi.
Then make a new circle, hold shift, and click from one corner of the document to another.

That should do it.

What monke said...btw photoshop's not the easiest way to make a circle.

You can also do it like this:

New document - 300dpi

3400x3400 pixels (3300x3300 pixels is 11" and it's nice to have some edge room in PS I think but you can do it however you like)

go to the Elliptical Marquee tool and in the menu bar for style use "fixed size" and enter the amount (3300/3300)

click once.
it will select a circle in that precise size.

neat trick, but how do you get it in the EXACT center of the new document?

when i click in the document it seems that is where it places the circle. i mean i guess i could use guides and click it where they intersect, but is there an easier way?

to find the center, use CMD+R to bring up the rulers and drag a guide vertically to 5.5", and then horizontally to 5.5".

Where the lines intersect that is dead center.
