okay, so i don't see any threads here about this and any other threads anywhere else google shows me are dead ends.

has anyone been able to successfully pair via bluetooth or even via USB cable a PS3 dual shock3 six-axis or other wise Playstation 3 controller to their macs running Yosemite?

this worked perfectly fine in mavericks so either something broke between yosemite and mavericks or support has dropped. i have yet to be successful in either pairing the controller or connecting via USB cable. many google results claim to have the answer but NONE of them work.

can anyone shed some light on this subject, or even, by the grace of the gods, tell me how to get it to work?

this is super frustrating as i have a new copy of shovel knight to conquer!!

Hi s-hatland, I too had it working on Mavericks, though haven't yet had an opportunity to try it on Yosemite. I'll give it a go when I get back tonight and update this post accordingly ...

A few troubleshooting steps you could try in the meantime to maybe resolve the issue - at the very least, it'll establish there's no hardware/software issue that may be causing the problem:

- Reset SMC
- Reset PRAM
- Check Yosemite is fully up-to-date
- Delete all existing BT devices & try readd. If memory serves I previously plugged in the controller via USB and held the PS button until it started to flash. Then it paired up from there.
- Check HDD isn't corrupted (SMART Utility: http://cloudfront.volitans-software.com/smartutility314.zip)
- Run volume verification through Disk Utility

As mentioned I'll give this a go later today and let you know if I run into an issue.

I have my PS3 controller fully working in Yosemite! Turn on bluetooth, connect the controller via USB, hit the home button, then take the cable out and it may be paired.

That's how I did it as well on Yosemite. But if you have trouble pairing it you might want to ry reseting the ps3 controller by inserting a small pin at that small hole at the back of the controller.

I can also verify that the PS3 controller works perfectly with Yosemite. My Son has been using it to play Radiation Island and other games on his MacBook Air.
