PS3 > Kanex XD > iMac > Apogee Duet

I'm having problems with making my PS3 cooperate perfectly with my iMac as a display with external sound device.

I'm using this chain

1. PS3
2. Kanex XD
3. Mini Display Port-input
4. iMac + it's display + internal speakers/rear audio output
5. Apogee Duet + Focal Solo 6's

A funny thing is, my Apogee Duet is set to be standard on both ins and outs but anyhow the sound comes out the internal speakers and I can even put headphones into the rear mini-jack-output… BUT MY IMAC FORGETS ALL ABOUT MY APOGEE DUET!

I know it's a sad story, but you got to wipe away those tears because I need your help.

You might want to try go to

System Preferences > Sound > Output

and select Duet instead of internal speakers as your main output.

The weird thing is it doesn't work!

Have you try to remove the Duet drivers and reinstall them again? Or maybe fix some disk permissions after you install? That's really weird because when I had the duet it worked fine and no sound came out of the internal speakers, they are all passed to the duet.

Apogee Support is actually looking at the case right now, hope they'll fix it! All other sound is going through the Apogee. Anyhow Skype has options to specific input and output choice only for Skype, still making it possible for Logic, Cubase, iTunes, etc. to use the Duet at the same time.

I love having it. The only disappointing thing is, it's only possible to input a 720p-signal into the 2560x1440 iMac-screen. My first trouble with this thing was that my PS3 was set to output a 1080p-signal.
