After much trails and tribulations on my part, here are a couple of things.

If you have icloud music library, your own music, purchased music and Apple music, things get messy when you upgrade.

To sync your own and purchased music to your new phone, icloud music library must be turned off. Your phone will not sync music while icloud library is enabled.

If you have downloaded apple music for offline listening, and you upgrade your phone, say goodby to your downloads. Apple does not allow that offline content to be backed up and synced to your new device. The content will show as part of your icloud library, but you will need to redownload if you want offline access to the tunes.

Well, good for me as I do not use Apple Music and iCloud library.
Apple Music messed up with iTunes library starting from iOS 8.4.

No, no, no, no, nooooooooo!

You don't use iCloud Music Library and sync music. That is a recipe for disaster. iCloud Music Library is your own music, Apple Music, and iTunes music. It's all together, with a single library everywhere.

You have one, single, unified iCloud Music Library that consists of all your content from everywhere, and it syncs automatically and wirelessly.

Well, I would argue iCloud library is a recipe for disaster. But to each of its own.

Especially when it goes down. My iCloud is down all the time so I can't use AM without turning it off. I like to save albums so AM is useless which is why I dropped them. AM depending on iCloud is so stupid. Apple support said iCloud comes from a different server than AM. Really.

Which I don’t bother any music streaming service anymore. I am just asking for trouble if I am in music streaming service.
