I had been in the market for an M1 MacBook since the announcement, and with 3+ week shipping times, I started looking at Best Buy's open box prices. A 512GB MacBook Pro showed up at my local Best Buy in satisfactory condition for $1125. I'm not sure if that was a pricing error, but I couldn't pass up a 25% discount. I picked it up the other day and after wiping it down with a microfiber cloth, it looks brand new.

I'm not sure how they determine their open box pricing because they have silver vs. space gray priced differently. But if you get lucky enough to find one near you, you can get a really good deal.

Their holiday return period is through January 16th, so it's a low risk purchase if you end up being unhappy with the condition.

PSA on the PSA - if you get one of these, check the AppleCare coverage dates and contact Apple to reset the start date to your purchase day. I did that a few years ago when buying an openbox unit. Maybe they still do this. Worth a try.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll definitely look into that. I know from previous purchases that all open box Best Buy Apple products are eligible to add AppleCare+.

I'm sure competence in the store is widely varied. I've returned defective products to Best Buy before and seen them in the Open box sale area. (Not an Apple Device)
