Just a heads-up for anyone that uses ExFAT on external drives - verify any data you copy across. I've been able to reproduce a problem with corrupted video files on USB drives formatted with ExFAT (via Disk Utility). Tried three drives from three different manufacturers so far - all have corrupted data once the file size exceeds about 2GB.

Resolved: Apple Support suggested restarting into Safe Mode, and then back into normal mode. And it fixed the problem. Why it happened in the first place though is anyone's guess...

Interesting. Apple support seemed to recognise the problem straight away and advised of a fix, but during the troubleshooting I was also able to reproduce it on a drive formatted with APFS too. ExFAT did give the impression of copying much faster though.

I suppose rsync is a workaround but it is irritating because I don't know what triggered the issue or how much stuff is corrupted.
