Two days ago after weeks of trying to figure out what the heck was killing my battery I gave up, restored to the latest dev seed release, and started over. So far the battery life on my iPhone 12 mini has been dramatically better.
Today, I came across this blog post that might have explained what I was dealing with. I wanted to share in case anyone else has had mysterious battery drain and heat and couldn’t figure out why.
(Yes, I know iOS 15 is in beta. I’ve been running beta builds for a decade, and while they usually have some extra debugging calls and overhead, I’ve found the claim that beta builds often suffer from major battery and heat issues isn’t necessarily the case for every instance.)
