I don’t recall this being an option before. Beyond the old “add to favorites” trick you can actually do the prework (financing with Apple Card or upgrade program, carrier information/check) and select your preferred phone SKU now and the Apple app will store it all for you so you just have to come back when preorder opens and click a few clicks to finish your order.
Note it only seems to let you do this if you have (or will apply for) Apple Card or are doing the upgrade program.

Happy buying! 💵 💵 💵

You still have to go to the favorites to pull the order I think.
No, this isn’t a favorites thing. The order is locked now and can’t be changed until preorder starts. It’s the beginning of an actual cart/order but I don’t think they are allocating inventory to the order so you still need to log in ASAP.

I’ve just bought iPhones with my credit card in the past and have never seen this. It looks pretty cool. The challenge I see is I have to order two... mine and my wife’s. I don’t think I can do it this way. Maybe a combo.

Can someone who did this a few weeks ago tell those of us waiting for 11/6 Max/Mini preorder how exactly this works on preorder day? Yes I’m being obsessive but what exactly did you have to do after opening the app that morning? Bonus points if you can explain the process for multiple preorders :)

I have pre-pre-ordered a Pro Max for myself and a Mini for my wife- just trying to figure out exactly what I need to do 11/6 AM when pre-order goes live to complete the orders. Thanks!

I guess this only works if you are doing the Apple Card Monthly installment plan? I don't see this option for those who are paying full price on apple card. Only on the Apple Card Monthly installment plan.

This is for the Apple Upgrade Program. Paying full price is not part of the Apple Upgrade Program, by definition.

Whether you bill the payments to an Apple Card or some other payment form is irrelevant. But again, this is only for the Apple Upgrade Program.

It works with sim-free model that you plan on doing Apple Card monthly payment plan as well.

For those NOT on IUP, Remember you do can set up your preferred phone as a favorite and it will also be in your ‘for you’ so you can click and go for full payment on Friday.

As far as multiple orders, I will have my daughter set up her own this year with my account info (I pay the bill) since some people said their orders were cancelled when they ordered more than one. I just pre-approved mine.

Cancelled orders a couple weeks ago apparently happened to people on IUP which to me doesn’t make sense as to Apple’s motive because your are trading your one phone for another, and it’s not like you’re picking 3 colors to decide which one you really want. PLUS a delay could cause you to have an extra payment on your old phone which doesn’t seem fair to me. What really disappointed me was that Apple couldn’t find out why the orders were cancelled.

Confirm Carrier step. T-Mobile... Unable to reach carrier. Please try again later.

Do you think the sim free won't be a good option this year because of 5G? Does it require a new SIM card.
You can always request a SIM card from the carrier. I had to order a new 5G SIM card at no charge and there isn't an activation fee when I had to make the sim switch from Verizon.
