On latest MBA with 8GB RAM, 512GB HD.

No issue with Beta 3 but with 4, I am getting frequent problem where the screen would flicker once and then go black. A couple of seconds later I am presented with log in screen as if I had been logged out.

This happens when I try to save a file or other menu functions that require disk access. Applies to Pages, Mail, Word, Excel etc. System unusable.

I repaired disk, permissions etc. I then formatted HD and installed a clean Beta 4 and then using Migration Assistant brought my files/settings/App and issue is back.

I am back on Beta 3; any ideas why this is happening? Anyone else seeing this? I would like to resolve as I suspect the issue will remain for me with GM.

Seems I am 'importing' the issue when I Migrate Assist my apps? Would reinstalling all apps manually be recommended (I assume I would have to bring back my data and reactivate app programs?).

Thanks

Yosemite versions 10.10.0, .1, .2, .3 and .4 should truthfully be called Beta 5, 6, 7, 8 and beta 9.

From the last few OSX versions, things don't get stable until .4 or .5

yosemite release 4 crashing

same problem here, nearly all apps including Pages, screen goes black and return to log in screen. happened since update to 4. release 3 no issues at all. hope this gets fixed sooner rather than later as its impossible to use machine with all that logging on/off every 30 secs.

Same here

Same here....MacBookPro Late 2013. Keep being logged out when opening apps, minimising windows, clicking in buttons in system prefs...etc.
The only way I could submit feedback on this issue was restarting in Safe Boot, only then I could click Submit without being logged out.

I have reinstalled PB4 from Recovery to no avail.

Everything is perfect apart from this annoying bug. Computer is unusable right now. PB3 was fine.

Yosemite randomly crashing after Beta 4 update

Same problems as everyone else in this thread. I tried a full wipe of the HD and reinstall of Yosemite allowing it to auto-update to Beta 4. It worked fine for a a few hours of constant use and then the random log-outs returned. I am going to try a restore to Beta 3.

Yosemite worked fine to Beta 3.

Constant crash / log out

I too am experiencing this issue, constant crash / log out and return to login screen whenever I do several things like create a new word doc and try to save, open a file in safari to upload among others. Not sure what is causing this butmy computer is practically unusable.

Exactly the same happening with me! It even crashes when I try and submit feedback....(blank screen then logon) using time machine to roll back to beta 3....hopefully I can submit feedback then. Lost a whole day of work...what a mess and they're nearly at launch!

If you have the time to experiment with doing so, go for it. I did once on an earlier build sometime ago and found that one of my apps/programs was not coded for the new OS.

Exactly the same here. Computer is practically unusable and despite reporting it not a peep from Apple. I would never do Public Beta again.

Actually, I happen to know that apple are onto it. I won't tell you how. But I will just say that they ARE onto it.

Wifi issue when trying to wipe disk

so basically in recovery mode, i don't seem to have access to wifi, even though networks are visible when i click on it, it says i entered the wrong details even though its the same as when in normal mode.

so i can delete the disk, but then i have to re-install but if i don't have wifi not sure how thats going to work.

i reckon i ll wait for a fix or the final version...

Fixed!

I found this thread last night after spending 4 days tearing my hair out trying to work out what I had done wrong! I had searched on the internet previously and not found any mention of the bug. I slept a lot better knowing it was a general and acknowledged issue.

Good news! I woke this morning to find Beta 5 ready for download and it fixes the problem.....although be prepared to spent a frustrating couple of minutes trying to click the Download and Install button while the bug has it's last hurrah!!

I have the same problem as everyone else on this thread.
I wouldn't classify it as a random problem. I can replicate it everytime for a number of events:

1. "right-click" and GetInfo on a file
2. Add a User
3. Delete a User
4. Save a Password using LastPass in Firefox
5. Run a scan in DiskDoctor
6. Open a PDF file
7. Attach a file on Feedback Assistant.

All of these issues seem to be happening on Late2013 Macs (I have a MBPro and an iMac which both have this issue).

Beta5 out but still doesn't fix the problem for me.

Anyone else sorted by Beta5?

Nervous about updating....

....I downgraded to beta 3....my update is shoeing beta4 ....I don't see anything about beta 5...

If I upgrade to beta 4 will I then see an update for beta 5? At the moment everything is working fine and worried about trying upgrading again?!

not sure, but the upgrade to Beta5 was there when I was on Beta4.
It may ask you to do an incremental upgrade rather than leaping from 3 to 5.

If you had these sorts of problems with Beta4, then be careful upgrading to 5 thinking it will fix them. One guy had his problems fixed, but I haven't.

I'm interested to see if others are still experiencing the same issues in 5 that I am.

Resolved with 5

When I saw 5 is out I upgraded from 3 to 4 (no choice to go to 5 directly), then immediately to 5. Issue is fixed for me.

Beta 5 seemed to come about fast so it could well be that the update was to fix that issue. Either way I guess it's solved now if no one is experiencing it with 5. These are still betas however so things like crashes might happen. Could be software compatibility although when reproduced it's more likely to be the OS so best thing to do in that scenario is just to send feedback to Apple to report the issue. They do listen. These issues often do get fixed. In fact, I think every problem I experienced that I reported (minor ones) got fixed in the next beta. That makes me a happy tester. :)
