ive been receiving a pop up
"Accountsd wants to use the "local items" keychain"

(Sometimes it says iCloud)

I'm on the public beta, has anyone else got this issue yet? Is it safe to enter password?

Yes, it's safe. That's just your login keychain having an issue, likely with your iCloud password. Was that recently changed, perhaps while you were installing the beta or shortly after? If you're continually prompted, I would try signing out and then back in under the iCloud System Prefs. If it continues, something may need to be changed in your Keychain Access utility, but I would not go in there and just start changing things if you aren't sure what you're doing. Its easy to do more damage than good in there.

I spoke with someone at Apple earlier who said they haven't seen it before (which would mean that individual, rather) bc I feel like it's not a virus or any third party. That was my concern. I'm currently downgrading, run a couple tests then re-upgrade. If it persists, I'll log into it and see if it works, just worried about all my personal data in keychain

I actually got that when I upgraded to the first beta and then again when I went to beta 2. It's probably just the icloud Keychain like someone else said. You can try it, but I am guessing it'll reappear.

That is actually quite normal. I have had that same issue the past few years when using the DP or Beta, at least since what ever the second version that supported iCloud was. Each year, signing in and out of iCloud cleared that up.

If you downgrade and later upgrade to the beta again, you should fully expect the problem to return.

Mike is correct. I am no stranger to keychain issues myself. They rarely come up, but when they do, they are pretty persistent until addressed.

Thanks guys, really appreciate it. I think the keychain is probably the only thing I require to be kept 100% secure. Unless someone wants to steal some Corporate finance papers for college, thats about all I care for! Lets hope its resolved, will post an update after 24 hours of use

So you know, I looked up "accountsd" and it is a Gmail related process. Likely a contacts sync.

I found that it was created by the same guy that developed Launchd (if you go into the activity monitor, then sort them alphabetically, you'll find accountsd)
Which would then bring me to this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Launchd

So it would seem it is safe. If my keychain is breached and I lose all my bank accounts, then I might let you all know lol
