I updated to the public version of iOS 9 and it did something horrible to my iPhone 6. It changed my phone number and changed to 4g speeds. I restored as new and it changed my phone number again. I received texts and phone calls from unknown people. I tried to activate iMessage and it is stuck trying to activate the "new" number. To confirm this, I went into settings->phone->my number... It changed!! So, I'm downgrading back to iOS 8.4.1 with the ISPW file.

Something went wrong with your TMobile service. This is unlikely happening to other users or the forum and Internet would be completely flooded with people on TMobile who just lost their phone service.

I saw forum members post about this regarding the gm (didn't believe until now)...While it could be specific areas, it definitely isn't an isolated issue.

I am on T-mobile and updated to iOs 9. No problems during and after installation. Not sure what is happening there.

I'm having same issue. A random 202 area code number is showing up in my phone / iMessage / Facetime settings... and my number is nowhere to be found. And from talking with the guy at the 202 number, it seems he was getting some messages for me. Called AppleCare and got escalated and escalated, then they got a senior t-mobile person on the line and they said it is a known issue and they are working to issue a patch ASAP (within 72hrs they said). They suggest turning off iMessage and resetting Network Settings until a patch is issued as a Carrier Update.

Interesting. Thanks for the memo.

I can confirm. Randomly today my phone changed numbers and my Mac was trying to add this new number to my iMessage.

I got the issue sorted out with T-Mobile, but my phone REFUSES to activate iMessage. Toggling it just automatically brings up the "failure" dialog box, and when the dialog box doesn't appear it just says "Waiting for activation" indefinitely...

FYI I just called T-Mobile. Before I could even connect to a tech support person, they play a message that says, "If you are using iOS9, you may be experiencing issues with mobile hotspot and Wi-Fi calling. We apologize for the issue and appreciate your

How did you sort the issue out w/ T-Mobile?

I called them and explained the issue to them.

Now if only I could get my iMessage to work. I'm starting to think it's the phone + the SIM...(I'm on my second restore and it's still not fixed).

Thanks for this post. My Personal Hotspot under iOS9 is a complete fail! At least I don't have the phone number issue that a number of people have mentioned.

For Personal Hotspot issues, try the following:

1. Power off your phone.
2. Restart your phone.
3. Go to Settings / Personal Hotsopt
4. Turn off Personal Hotspot and wait a bit
5. Turn on Personal Hotpsot
6. I was asked if I wanted to use Hotspot over WiFi. I said yes.
7. My iPad now sees my iPhone Hotspot and I can connect

*** For the first time after upgrading Pers Hot may not be in Settings. It may be one step further removed in Cellular. Once you turn it on in Cellular, it moves up to Settings. Bizzare.
