Hi there, I’m just wondering if anyone could help me?
I was speeding in 40mph I think I was going 55mph but the police officer said I was doing 60mph.
He pulled me over and asked if I knew why I was pulled over I said I was speeding, I apologised profusely and said I had no excuse for going that fast, he explained that I should not be going that fast due to housing estates. I agreed and said I had no excuse and I was sorry. He also asked if I had any points on my license to which I replied I hadn’t. He began to walk back to his car I asked if he needed my license and he said no and got back in his car. He drove off a bit after that. I did not see him writing anything down.
I know I was completely doing the wrong thing and I should not have been speeding, I am very remorseful and will not do it again. I’m just wondering if he let me off or I am going to be getting something in the post? This is in the UK
Thank you

I didn’t actually realise this was a US site.. in a panic trying to google if I would get a letter through the door or not I decided to ask on a forum.. I spoke to family and friends, I think I’ve bored to them to death talking about it.. I’m just an anxious person and wanted to try and get a straight answer, I know I probably wouldn’t get one but didn’t know if someone may have been in similar situations.

This is a site with people from all over the world. There are many here from the UK. I see nothing weird about posting your question on this site. The site deals with more than just tech and no on here should be giving you the third degree or make you feel uncomfortable for posting such a question. The forum gets questions like this (normal day to day ones) on a regular basis.

Welcome.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. Sounds like you have "got away with it", you might get something through the mail but I doubt it. Last time I was stopped I was fined on the spot, they give you paper and make you pay at a court. Its a total pain in arse. Not to mention the points. Seems like the guy let you off with a warning. Would have been nice if he was clear about it. Randon questions, did he show you ID or did he just have blue lights? how do you know he was a police? Might be an idea to report it if you are not 100% sure.

i just wish he was clear so I know were I stand instead of worrying if something is going to come through the door. No he didn’t show ID but he had police uniform on, and there were blue light on his car, he had dogs in the car as well. This was in the day time, I do think he was an actual police officer.

I think first thing they ask for is drivers license, so they can identify you.
But maybe he was called away to something more urgent.

There seems to be no proof that you have even been stopped.

general google search:

If you have been stopped by the Police for speeding, there is no need to serve a Notice of Intended Prosecution. For less serious offences, you will probably receive an offer of a speed awareness course or a Fixed Penalty Notice which will be handed to you by the Officer at the time of the offence.
