Hey Guys my HD crashed is there any way you can recover your old photos that were sync'd with the old computer from your iPhone there's alot of them and i'd like to recover them.

Are the photos still on the iPhone? I'm not sure if it was clear as to whether or not you would sync and delete or just sync and leave them on the iPhone.

Unfortunately, you can't recover the original, full-resolution photos because iTunes downsamples your pics to fit the iPhone's screen when you sync, so you're seeing only a low-res copy on the iPhone. There might be some small piece of freeware/shareware that can get them off the iPhone, try searching on VersionTracker. The easy but slow way would be to email each photo from the iPhone to yourself, but since the iPhone only lets you send one picture at a time (they really need to fix this flaw), it's a painful option.

And dude...BACK UP YOUR IMPORTANT STUFF! Frequently. If you have Leopard 10.5 already, Time Machine makes this unbelievably simple.

One thing a stand alone iPod is really good for - iPhoto. It gives you the ability to keep the original photo and still have a downsampled one for viewing. Not sure why the iPhone doesn't have this option. Maybe it's storage limitations or something.

You can log into the iPhone with SFTP, and do the following.

Go into the folder /root/Media/Photos/Thumbs and choose the file with the LARGEST file size and copy it to your computer.

Download Filejuicer here

(FileJuicer is a, .ithmb reader)

Drag the .ithmb file into the FileJuicer icon and your done!
