I have the opportunity to purchase a brand new X 256gb for £800 unlocked instead of the full price £1149.
Undecided to go for it or wait for the new one to come out. Currently unsung IP7.
How much would I lose if I purchased it and then sold it in say 2/3 months to replace it with the new iPhone?

We're approaching the end of August, and with September so close, I cannot see any reason other then a dead phone to buy one right now. Even then, I'd probably just pick up a burner phone to get me through the month

There always will be a net loss when you sell a used phone, but it’s too early to determine what the market holds for the iPhone X in terms of resale, being that we don’t have the new models launched quite yet. But in terms of you upgrading to the iPhone X 256, it really depends if you feel the need that you need to upgrade right now, but obviously the natural advice you’re going to read from many on here is to wait until the September Keynote arrives to make a decision then.

The way the X came out last year (end of Oct) then the usual supply issues that come with the one everyone wants. Just thinking it would be 2/3 months at least before new iPhone is on sale.
Does 50-60% of retail seems about right working on the basis of the X will problebly drop by 20-25% from retail price when new iPhone comes out?
Thinking prices will be around
X 256gb £1149 - £899
New iPhone £999
New iPhone + £1199
Storage dependent of course?

I’m actually in the minority it seems!

I upgraded to the X about weeks ago using the Apple Upgrade program and I love, love the phone.

Coming from the 6s it feels very different and just an overall beauty of a phone.

With a new model dropping in a month or so, it’s really up to you.

If your 7 is working ok right now, then personally I think you'd be mad to even consider changing to an X at this time.

To be fair though, at £800 for the X you probably aren't going to lose out too much if you sold it on. However, until the price of the new 2018 line-up is confirmed, it's nigh on impossible to say what the second hand value of the X will be.

As everyone says, wait. Put it out of your mind until the new models are launched and then make a decision. At £800 it might seem a bargain, but it’s not a bargain if you weren’t intending on buying it in the first place.

And if you do ignore everybody’s advice and buy it anyways, you’ll only waste the amount you saved in the subsequent cost of changing again to the new one. Though why you’d want to do that is a mystery when you’d already have a perfectly good iPhone X and would be getting only minor enhancements. Unless it’s the Plus you’re after - in which case my original point stands. £800 is a not a bargain for a phone that isn’t the one you want.

The 2017 iPhone X may have superior features compared to the 18 iPhone 6.1 inch LCD phone.

The 2018 iphone X 64GB will likely start at £899

Naturally, the OLED iPhone X should have more specific features over the 6.1 LCD iPhone, mainly because the price point will distinguish that. If that 6.1 LCD iPhone starts at approximately $750, then it’s likely going to have reduced technology with an LCD panel obviously, no 3D Touch/simulated 3D Touch, lack of wireless charging, camera, etc.

I would say that is an amazing price and probably cheaper than the X will be after the new iPhones launch. A £349 saving is a lot on a 12 month old design iPhone.

I'd say that is a fairly good deal for a 256GB X, but of course new models are right around the corner.

Better wait, the event is most likely next month. If I'm not impressed, I will just get an X from last year in a few months when prices will probably drop below $500-600 for a great condition used one.

Still rocking 6s:cool:
