I purchased an app on my old iPhone this morning, and assumed it would sync up with my mac like music does...

It doesn't, now my 3G iPhone cannot download the app without re-purchasing... am I doing something wrong?? Every time I try and re-sync my old iPhone it ignores any apps I downloaded on the phone

Please help me!! :(:(

To start, you should switch iTunes to sync only selected apps, this should help. I've purchased apps on my phone and they sync'd back to my Mac fine, but only AFTER I authorized this Mac with iTunes. So... download a free app via iTunes, then from within iTunes, double-click the app. It should ask you to authorize (if it's not already). Then, maybe you will have better luck re-downloading the app?

This may be a bug though, anyone else have the problem? Mine is working as advertised in this area.

Select File->Transfer purchases from iPod

For some reason it doesn't always do that automatically.

If you don't have the file you can redownload for free - iTunes knows you paid for it and will not bill you twice (I've only actually tried it on free ones, but I always get a popup telling me I've already purchased it so I expect it does the same ofr paid apps).
