Good to know, will make my life easier as she just switched from Windows to Apple products and I am just trying to get her to stop asking me questions or having me do this and that all the time.

Thanks for the help

They do make a keyboard with dock specifically for the ipad. if you're going out of you're spending the extra money for a keyboard may as well get the right one.

Stick with the BT keyboard over the dock version (which I now regret purchasing). The dock makes it awkward to slip in a bag and you're forced to use it in portrait mode (or jury-rig it to work in landscape). Bluetooth works fine and allows you to prop the iPad any way you prefer.

Keyboard dock only works with the iPad in portrait orientation. Also, is less portable than the regular Apple Bluetooth keyboard. So while the iPad specific function keys are nice, not the "right" keyboard for everyone.

The dock keyboard isn't great. It's good but wobbles a little when typing. im on it right now. Im going to buy a better stand and get the wireless keyboard because when typing fast, the ipad shakes. Get a stand and wireless keyboard.

+1. I have the keyboard dock and I have never taken it out of the house. The BT keyboard is much more portable.

has anyone tried other Bluetooth devices e.g. Wacom Intous 4?
would be awesome with Autodesk Sketch :)

That's why I have both. :)

The BT keyboard has issues too though. The power button is so sensitive that it is easy to accidentally turn it on when it is stowed in a case.

I like the keyboard dock because it solidly holds the iPad at the right angle for typing. The portrait mode is very handy when working on documents. I also appreciate the iPad-specific keys that are not present on the BT keyboard.

But the BT keyboard works well too. As much as I like the keyboard dock, if one can only have one keyboard, then the BT keyboard is the way to go.

Ah cool I get you.. I guess if I take mine with me it'll go in it's box then.. or some bubble wrap :D

My solution is to turn off bluetooth on the iPad when I'm not using the keyboard. It works because all I use bluetooth for is the keyboard, and a bluetooth speaker at home, where I don't have to worry about bumping the keyboard.

Great idea to use the wireless keyboard with the iPad...never even thought of that (why didn't I??) :)

It would make the iPad an option for me when building a presentation......

of course I'd have to buy the dang 'dongle' attachment so I can connect it to a VGA projector....already had to buy one for my MBP.....I wish the iPad had a mini-display out.
:(
