I bought my mom a Shuffle for Mother's Day; this weekend I discovered she's been afraid to set it up. So we spent like two hours going over how to import CD's, how to navigate the library, make playlists, use the Store, etc. Then I plugged in her Shuffle, registered it, and we started playing with Autofill. She asked how to put a specific song on her iPod, I showed her how to drag and... it wouldn't drop. I see my mom's newfound confidence wilt.
After a bit of poking, I figured out that it was just the purchased songs that wouldn't transfer (through any means). Some googling suggests that I should upgrade the iPod software, which I'll definitely try. But to avoid traumatizing my mom further, are there any other problems that could be causing this? I want to be fully armed when I go in there again.
[Edit] A few months later, but I finally got around to taking the Shuffle to the Apple Store. It turns out that the iPod was broken from the get-go, and it was replaced no questions asked. Just wanted to add this note in case any future searches turn it up.
