Nice. I was looking at getting either this lens or the Sigma. In the end I went with the Sigma, pretty much because I also got a 40D so I was a little broke.

I also was thinking about that lens, but as it would've cost 1380 euros compared to 380 euros for Sigma EX 30mm f/1.4 I decided to save the thousand. I'm sure you'll be happy with the L :)

You got a 40D? Nice. That'll be a step up from your XTi.

I saw a D300 in person for the first time today, and was overcome with lust. God forbid I see a D3 in person... I'd be selling my spare organs to raise the cash!

So excited :D It'll be my 2nd L lens :)
I'm off to China for 6 months and i can't wait to use this lens out there.

This has been the most popular and recommended lens for over 50 years.

I have a 50mm f/1.4 lens mounted to an Exacta SLR. Both were made in 1956 in what was then called "USSR Occupied Germany". I say this just to point out that the 50 f/1.4 is a classic lens and has been popular from the very beginning of SLR cameras (The Exacta may have been the first 35mm SLR) That old Zeiss lens is very much like the the two Nikon version of this lens I have. I notice that Carl Zeiss still makes a version of the lens

Yeah it's a lot nicer. Took way to many photos for my own good though. Still going through them before I can upload.

The D300 looks like a great camera. Quite a bit more expensive than the 40D though, but I guess that's to be expected.

I splurged on one yesterday afternoon... and it's been pouring down rain ever since.

You're a real comedian, God.

Every once in awhile I consider switching to Nikon, but then I remember how much I love my 35L and the fact there's nothing like it on the other side.
