Am I missing something, or is it not possible to BUY movies from the ATV?

Every single movie I look at is only available to rent. I'm in the UK, but even ones that are available to buy when I look on iTunes aren't listed to buy on ATV.

Am I doing something dumb, or is that just the way it is?

There also doesn't seem to be a "Purchased" tab on the ATV....

TV shows are available to buy without a problem, btw

I have ATV2 with the new UI and I can buy movies through ATV. I am in the US. Perhaps the iTunes Store in the UK is not set up yet for movie purchases through ATV?

From what I understand, at this point in time (in the UK) you can buy and rent TV shows and only rent movies. I'm sure at some point the film studios will allow us to buy via ATV, but just not yet :(

Movies in iCloud are not allowed in the UK. So what you need to do is: buy the movie in your Mac, enable iTunes sharing, and access the movie through "computers" in your apple TV.

Which would be ok, except you can't buy in 1080 thru iTunes :-(

in the future? Especially if iCloud is develop here in the UK

You are right! I didn't notice this, I bought the Lion King and I thought it was 1080p, but I just checked and it's 720p. I feel scammed!!!

I started checking the movies in the store and all of them are 720p, I haven't seen any movies at 1080p.

TV shows are 1080p, I bought the Walking Dead and there's the option (BTW you need to select 1080 as your choice for HD content in the store settings).

Does anybody know when will the UK itunes store have 1080p movies?

Oh, that's were I saw the movies at 1080p. I would be nice to have some official communication from Apple about where this is going in the UK:

- Will we have movies in the cloud?

- Will we be able to buy Movies in 1080p?

- Will we have more current TV shows? (Episodes available just after aired in the US).

Not sure where to ask this, but as someone who does look for deals (like most people I think) do movies on the iTunes store ever go on sale? E.g. Random sales and promotions like any other store?

I've noticed some movies I can't buy on Apple TV but they are on iTunes. I live in America, zombie land is one such example. It doesn't even show up on the search using Apple TV. But using iTunes on iPad, iPhone, or my Mac it shows up just fine.

Is it possible to se up a USA account from Australia? In Australia rent for some" movies is $7.99, I want to keep my movies at that price! I'm sure you guys in state getting it cheap like everything else.
