PureMobile will have unlocked iPhones

Supposedly according to this story on Electronista PureMobile will be unlocking 4 and 8 GB iPhones for use with T-Mobile as well as Canadian providers such as Fido and Rogers. I have a feeling that an additional $100+ charge will be added to these phones. I guess we'll see.

Its only a matter of time before the iPhone is unlocked. Cingular has to offer unlocking if you request it, its the law, isn't it?

Does the iPhone have any kind of AT&T branding on it? I would love to just stay with T-Mobile and pay the money to unlock it. I just don't want to have an AT&T branded phone on T-Mobile. (Personal preference.)

well, it's sort of the law. They have to allow you to do it. They don't, however, have to help you do it, and officially, they don't have to let you do it until your contract expires. You're at the mercy of hackers. Now, for most phones, especially those without exclusives, they don't care. You paid them money for the phone and at least some service, and most people unlock phones when their contracts expire or they go overseas, so they don't really care.

But for a phone with a 5- year exclusive? you can bet they are going to fight you tooth and nail for unlocking it, and probably will enforce the end of contract clause they usually don't abide by.

So you'd pay extra, and not get all the features? I am 100% certain the visual voicemail won't work on any other carrier, even if they manage to unlock the phone.

i would stay away from pure mobile, they are a complete and utter rip off,

the TyTN is $~850 on their website, the TyTN is avalible for purcahse everywhere else for $~450 thats almost double the price.

the Imate Jam is $400, i paid $350 for my Jamin, lol

BB 7290 (this phone is like 3-4 years old) is $190, it can be had for $50 off ebay (brand new sealed in a box)

i can list other but puremobiles site is a POS, it took 8 minutes to load and im on a corporate line
