iPhone X pushing down on apps and submenu

I had to upgrade to the new iphone from work (iphone X or XR - not sure which). Now when I press dwn on an app all I get is the abiity to delete the app. In my previous phone if I pressed down a certain way, I would get a submenu specific to that app (for example in evernote it would allow me to go right to search.
Did they remove this feature in the new and "improved" iphone? If not, how do I get that submenu back?

Press down quickly and harder. A lighter slower press brings up the Delete option.

You need to know whether you got the X or XR.
What you’re describing is 3D Touch.
If you got the XR, you don’t have it.
