Is there a way so that I can have the "Put display to sleep.." tab on but have the "Put computer to sleep..." tab on Never and still have OS X ask me for my password to wake it up from sleep? Thanks.

With a quick workaround you can. Set a screensaver to turn on. Say your display goes to sleep after 5 minutes of inactivity, set the screensaver to start after 5 minutes as well. Despite the screensaver, your display will still go to sleep. Then in the security pref. pane, check the "require password to wake computer from sleep or screensaver"

Does the "put the computer to sleep tab..." have to be on for the little indicator light to breathe on and off? Or will the indicator light breathe if just the display is asleep? Thanks.

The indicator light does not breathe if only the display is asleep.
