Just thought I'd pass on my experience. I have the iPhone data plan (if that matters) and a regular (non iPhone) texting plan. Even with that said, I was never able to send or receive MMS even if I placed my sim into another phone. I just tried it and it seems to be working. Maybe we are getting closer? Maybe someone in the Cali area (if that matters) can test with the 3.1 beta.
