iPod Putting a thin housing on a thick 160gb 6th gen iPod classic?

I just purchased a 6th gen iPod classic. It is the 160gb thick version with a bad hard drive and I'm looking to replace it with one of Tarkan's iFlash SD adapters (I'm aware of the 128gb limit this generation has when upgrading the drives). Could I fit a thin back housing to replace the thick housing so that the adapter doesn't rattle around as much? If so, what would be required to allow the internal parts to fit?

This is fine, no modification necessary the replacement back will clip to the existing front. The thick back is only there to accommodate the twin platter 160gb HDD compared to the later single platter 160gb (and 120gb) you will need to replace the battery for a smaller one as the thicker 160 had a larger battery installed (in physical size and capicity) you will also have to move the headphone jack and lock switch from the old back to the new one and you're find that the cable will be a bit long as it has less distance to travel but there should be enough room inside to accommodate the cable as you're using an iflash adapter. (You can always replace it if necessary for one that was made for the thin model)
