I'm a bit of a computer-moron, so I appologize if this is a stupid question. Can you switch out the 5400RPM internal drive on the 15'' Macbook Pro with a quicker and larger one? Can I do this myself, or would I have to take it to an Apple dealer? Also, does this void any type of Apple warranty? Thanks!

I've done it several times now (once for myself and a few other times for friends) and it's fairly simple as long as you take your time and don't force anything.

I like to take advantage of having the case open and putting an 802.11n AirPort card in while I'm there (that only applies to CD MBPs.)

It only voids your warrenty if you break something. If everything goes ok, and then something else breaks, simply put the old drive back in and send it off.

Correct...warranty is only void if you caused the malfunction...since I visit a local service centre here in Toronto, he knows that I upgrade the hard drive myself, knows I know what I'm doing, and does not hesitate to service it if I need it (when I had my core duo and replaced the logic board for example).

Thanks for that link, Lovesong. Which brand of hard drive would you guys suggest?

I stuck to the Toshiba one that Apple uses (bought it from OWC); I don't want the thing overheating or anything. I have no idea where you'd get a 7200 from.
