Is there any way to do this besides downloading content from your apple tv. I have some movies I would like to store there but it is looking like there is not an easy way to do this...or am I just dense = ) And yes they are properly encoded and they are also in my itunes library.

You mean, like, moving the content OFF your computer and storing it on the Apple TV only? No way that I know of, at least, not within the iTunes -> Apple TV universe. You have to sync it across (or just stream it from your computer's iTunes library).

The only way to do this is to "sync" the files from iTunes to your :apple:TV.

It will act like an iPod, though, so if after you sync them, if you delete them from iTunes, they will disappear from the :apple:TV, too.

Or you can sync the movies, then delete the files from your computer, but NOT from iTunes. This will keep the movie on the ATV. You'll get an error everytime you sync, but it can be ignored. Of course, if you want to get the movie off the ATV and back to your computer, you are out of luck, short of taking the HDD out of the ATV and connecting it to your computer.
