Putting None iTunes movies on Iphone & touch ipod

I have searched through and found a specific method of taking movies either ripped from DVD or some other format say from the newsgroups and put them on either the iPhone or Touch iPod.

Could someone shed some light on this either with a URL, and for Mac & Windows machines.

From a DVD you can use Handbrake, from a Newsgroup I can't discuss it, as its copyrighted material.

But for legally downloaded video files, you can use iSquint or Visualhub (both for Mac). iSquint is the free version, VisualHub has more options.

Has either one of you used Visual Hub? Downloaded it last night and if I can make a movie from DVD into MP4 or what ever iPod and iPhone use I'll buy it in a minute just can not figure out how to do this.
