Putting your saved videos on your New iPod

placing your saved videos (simpsons, movies, ect.) your new ipod is VERY EASY.

open your video in quicktime go to File> Export. in export choose Movie to iPod (320x240) the video will then be formated just for your ipod. click and drag the video into your library where it will be ready for your new iPod when it comes

I have been unable to successfully convert any video with 7.0.3. I tried sources encoded with DivX (yes, I have the component), XviD (same) and even MPEG1, with no luck. I am currently trying to export a 3GP movie made with my phone, but I bet it stalls too.


Edit: Well, it seems to be making progress. Perhaps I should be a little more patient with those other movies.
 
If you don't do this, will the iPod not play the movies? For instance, if I try to load a 640x480 movie, will it not play? Or will it automatically downsize?

From Apple's website, I'm guessing that those specs are the most the iPod is able to decode (thinks thats the word im after).

"H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats. MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats"

Back on topic is this exporting only available for Quicktime Pro?

With this range of supported formats, why doesn't the iPod export have any features or preferences you can control? Plus, why can't I import a .mov file directly into iTunes? Can it sense whether or not the frames are too big and block the upload?
 
I think QT will just export to what the iPod can support, with best quality. I sure wouldn't want any artifacts on a 320x240 screen :eek:
As for iTunes, I guess it will only accept stuff that you download through it (videocasts, etc.) or anything you encode with QT, although I am encoding something now that's MPEG-4, 320x240 @ 30fps. I'll see if iTunes accepts it.


Okay, so iTunes accepted the file, but for some reason, QT didn't keep the audio track, so I just deleted it.
