I'm curious about the characteristics of those who suffer from noticing PWM (pulse width modulation) on OLED screens vs those who don't. Would anyone care to answer these questions?

1. Do you notice PWM, and if so, under what conditions?
2. What OLED screen do you own, or have experienced PWM on?
3. What is your age?
+ other comments

I'll go first...

1. No
2. I own an iPhone Xs
3. 53
+ I don't get eye strain from watching TV in a dark room, which I mention as it's something that seems to bother a lot of people
+ I have good visual acuity (I often notice "jaggies" on Retina displays, though not on my Super Retina display)

(this is just to indulge my curiosity; I have no ties to the electronics industry)

1. I see no difference between LCD and OLED
2. iPhone Xs
3. 35
+ I owned the iPhone X for over a year before getting my Xs and have never experience any PWM related issues.

1. Yes. I experienced eye strain after about 10-15 minutes of use on my X.
2. XR now, which I no longer experience any eye strain.
3. 54 years old.

My eyes aren't what they used to be, so the debate over which screen is better doesn't matter to me anymore.

Thanks to all who replied. Though there were few responses, it was enough to learn that my age isn't the reason I don't experience PWM fatigue.

1. No
2. I own Xs Max. Have used Samsung Note 3 and several tablets.
3. 33

Note: I get motion sickness playing pc games especially games that have screen tearing and/or no vsync. No motion sickness in real life (boats/planes). Shaky camera in movies gets me sicker than sick. Reading on my Xs Max has been the most on screen pleasant experience on a digital device - not counting eink.

I notice the slight flickering in low light. I read for hours and hours at near 0% brightness. Doesn’t bother me at all.

Had to return the Xs. Terrible eye strain. Also happened on my Pixel 3 XL but to a much lesser extent.
