I know some information but it is not clear to me. I have 3.0.1 and I want to update to FW 3.1.2 but I don't want to update my baseband. I want to continue using ultrasn0w. I do not want to use blacksn0w.
When I was creating a custom firmware using Pwnage 3.1.4, the "Enable baseband update" is grey out. Obviously it is safe to say it will not update my baseband. Has anyone updated to FW 3.1.2 without updating their baseband using Pwnage 3.1.4? Is there anything else I should know?
Thanks

The whole point of using PT is not to upgrade your baseband. In some former versions of PT there was an option to upgrade your baseband, but this was eliminated in the current version to prevent accidental upgrades by people who didn't know what they were doing. Upgrading with a pwned 3.1.2 firmware will leave your baseband exactly as it was before the upgrade.

Since you are going to unlock, I assume you will be using an unofficial carrier? If that is not the case and you have a valid official carrier SIM you could use to activate your phone in iTunes, you should use expert mode in PT and uncheck the "Activate" checkbox so that it won't hacktivate your phone. If you are on an unofficial network you will of course have to hacktivate.
