Pwnage Tool and Restore from backup

Hi. I recently updated my 1.1.4 iPhone (original) to 2.2.1. It went fine but I had a bit of trouble getting DFU mode to work because of OS X 10.5.6. Has the DFU problem been fixed with 10.5.7? Also, would I be okay updating to 3.0 with Pwnage Tool? Would I be able to restore from backup in iTunes most importantly once using the custom firmware? Does restoring from a backup save restore all my game saves and texts... basically everything? Thanks!!!!

Yes, DFU in 10.5.7 is fixed

To update, first do a Sync for a backup
Let iTunes do update to 3.0
Do another Sync for backup
Use PT or reds0w to JB (Don't install ICY as many are having issues with it) (Redsn0w does not make custom IPSW)
Use Cydia to run Ultrasnow to UL

JB will not remove all your app store apps, texts, E-mails etc
