According to Apple's support site, the iPod touch supports TV out through the combination of the universal dock and the iPod A/V cable.

Does anyone have a universal dock (pref. an older dock) and the older A/V cable? If so, please pair 'em up and see if this works.

Thanks.

I have the Apple dock, Airport Express connection kit and the AV cable kit. Yes they still work with the iPT.

Apparently only the New Universal dock works for TV output with any of the new ipods

Mine is two years old. I use the S-Video output and the A/V. Both work fine.

It must be real old to not work. What changes did they make?

My ipod universal dock does NOT work with iPod Touch either using original (for ipod video) composite video cable or s-video cable. Just tried it. (Does work with my video ipod.)

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300233 states that ipod universal dock does not work with it (but does work with classic and 3G nano) but Touch requires apple universal dock (see table 2).

My ipod universal dock has Model No A1153. By the look at picture of apple universal dock this does not have s-video socket but I have yet to examine one in the flesh.

I'm getting mis-information from all over the net.

My old-man went off and ordered the old-dock, even though I told him to wait for the new one:rolleyes:

Anyway, can someone please re-confirm the the 'old' universal dock:

a) Sync's and charges the Touch.
b) You can play video and audio from the Touch through iTunes on your mac/pc.
c) The audio/video out functionality does or does not work.

Would be so kind if said person has the old dock and Touch to reply asap please!

a) Correct - it charges and syncs the iPod touch.
b) Correct - it allows you to play content on your iPod touch on your computer when the iPod touch is connected via the USB cable.
c) Audio out works fine. Video out doesn't work via S-Video, haven't tried the A/V cable but I don't think that would work either.

AV Cable!

I ordered one from eBay only to find that it is not compatible with the new 2.1 update. So what do I use for AV out????

I've got an A1153 "old" dock, the s-video output works well with an iphone 3GS and a Philips 40PFL9704H tv :)
