hello,

i have a powerbook g4 12" that i bought a year ago. it has jaguar on it.
i recently bought an imac 17" and that came with the disks for panther.

is it possible to install panther on my powerbook. i heard a rumour that the panther disks that came with my imac are hard ware specific but i'm not sure.

any help is much appreciated.

Not only are they hardware specific, but if it were possible it would also be illegal from a licensing standpoint.

with regards to my previous post. i don't plan on running both copies of panther at the same time. i just want to be able to run panther on my PB for ease of use with my iMac.

All i need to know is will i be able to install panther from the panther disks that cam with my iMac on my powerbook?

you can try. you are supposed to own at least an upgrade copy of panther for every computer you put it on. It doesn't matter whether or not you are running both at the same time. Having said that, I beleive that those disks are in fact hardware specific and you might cause yourself some unneeded and unwanted headaches if you do that. So my advice is not to try it unless you are prepared to reformat and start over to get rid of possible problems that this might create.
