Hey guys and girls,

soon..hopefully today..i am going to order new macpro!!! :)
but I have a question to ask you guys before i make a purchase...

I wanted to get the ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB (2 x dual-link DVI)..but that will delay my shipment...wait 3-5 weeks...yikes.... so I don't think i will get the ati....so only other graphics card that meets my budget is either

3 x NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256MB or
4 x NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256MB..........

how good are these graphics card?...i tried to search online to see how good these cards are, but can't find the reviews on them...only single 7300GT reviews...any help will be great. ;)

Thank you.

The cards don't work together, they drive multiple displays.

This is the reason for 3x and 4x 7300GT computers, for multimonitor displays...

I hope you know that the NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT don't run in SLI mode.
The run independently. So unless your need eight monitors....
Getting more than one is useless.

I would wait it out and get the ATI.

ACK!!!!!!

I just assumed they will work together to make a better performance...
good thing I didn't order it yet.....phew..thanx guys...

but any gamers out there...

NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256MB

worth it?.....right now...i am using ati x800xl 256mb for gaming...(pc)

I really want ati x1900xt 512mb...but waiting kills me....:(

You could order it with the nvidia and then get the card seperately at a later date. You could then sell the nvidia to recoupe your losses. Also, these cards might be available for a discount later and someone might even figure out a way to get any PC card working in these things in the future as well giving you even more options.

Is NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256MB that comes with Mac Pro both Mac Pro and PC compatible?

and also, I see x1900xt 512mb for pc version for around $300-$350 on other online stores...will this work on Mac Pro?

Ummm... No.
PC and Mac cards aren't swappable.

Wait for the Ati, the 7300GT is not a very good card at all... infact it is considered entry level at best... you would be bottle necking an otherwise amazing computer. Take a look here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_7_Series) for some specs compare to the x1900xt you will see they are night and day. For a similar Nvidia card you would be looking at the 7900GT or 7900GTX (from what I understand)

Anyways I would stay very far away from a card like the 7300

sorry, I am a noob at Mac Pro...:p
I asked, because we can run windows xp on Mac Pro.

so then, how does windows xp is able to reconize...for example, x1900xt mac version graphics card once we switch from mac os to windows xp on mac pro? unless...window xp also reconize both mac version and pc version of graphics card.

It will work in Windows via Boot Camp. No guarantee on OS X.

If you can wait there will prob be a way around this in the future though. I hate paying full price for things, esp things that are as overpriced as video cards. I hope Apple gives up a way around having to only use their cards, although it might not be as profitable for them to do so.

Thank you guys for the inputs.

I have ordered Mac Pro.....with x1900xt......yea 7300GT wasnt worth it...

guess I will just have to bite my nails until it arrives...3-5 weeks later.....:D

just can't wait.....

p.s- does anybody who plays world of warcarft knows if quad will actually support the game? meaning all the quad processors will be working hard to make the game faster or will only use one processor..........i didnt buy the mac pro for just gaming....but just a thought...:)

It will greatly depend on what else you are doing, WoW is multithreaded by nature (apparently up to sevenish threads, but one main thread) so you should notice a very small difference. however you will probably be interested in this article (http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,1996945,00.asp) I am not sure how old this is so it might be fixed by now (I doubt it). Anyways enjoy!

PS the real power of multicores (at this point in time) is that you can run multiple single treaded applications, so for example if you have a big simulation going or you are compiling something then you can still play WoW without any lag!! Yey!
