Hi everyone, I am new here and going to buy a MBA Ver. B SSD verion in my local apple store. I know there are cheaper place to buy online but considering what people are discussing here about the grey line and the flickering screen, I would like to check the MBA myself in the store to make sure they are "known issues free".

Could everyone give me specific checking procedures about the grey line as so far I haven't found any pcitures or description on how to check this out.

For the screen flickering, I found a link: http://www.keithstravels.com/travelog/photos/desktopsplit-loginscreen.jpg
in the forum.

Is there a better / more obvious checking method for this one?

For other known issues like the four finger swip, I will ask the store clerk to demostrate for me to check.

Is there anything else I need to check before taking the machine home? such as the battery or other issues?

To be honest, I know the grey line and screen flickering issues don't bother many people, but since I am going to pay big for this machine, I certainly want to make sure I have a "perfect" or at least "known to be perfect" machine.

Everybody's help here is appreciated!!!

No one to help? Please!!!

In my case i did not see the lines immediately at the store. (Prob. because of excitement + lighting).
I was looking for the lines only on the top half of the screen (I didn't know what to look for).

At home I put the brightness level to max, got a headache after playing around for a couple of minutes and looked at http://www.google.com and saw the horizontal lines all over the screen.

So make sure to put brightness to max and look at something with a white background. You see the lines best when you're not too close to the screen.

Wish you luck! Let us know :)

Thank you alphaxano, I surely will check the brightness in store. What about the flickering screen? Is the link picture the best way to check?

Ask them to give you 15 mins with the Air...the test Picture did flicker but that didn't bother me...the headache is what pissed me off...
after 15 mins you will either have a headache, flicker free screen or a brain that doesn't care...
