Anyone know the strengths and weaknesses of each? I'm having a hard time telling if one has an advantage over the other. Hoping others might have a deeper insight.

Thx!

I will be doing a comparison review of these soon @ InstallerApps.com

but after some quick testing I can say this. . .

Qik requires that you receive an SMS to activate the iPhone app.
Qik allows live chat and FlixWagon doesn't.

The rest is merely cosmetic. There could be some specific differences between the encoding quality/resolution. But for flash video, they both look the same.

Outstanding...looking forward to it.

A couple things I gathered from the VERY unscientific test I just did...

- There was a LOT more buffering of the video on Flixwagon (little spinning dial). So much so it was quite difficult to enjoy it live. Qik on the other hand streamed the video very smoothly. Lots of reasons that may have occurred and may be an anomaly, but the difference was stark.

- But I had a nasty little issue with Qik. I recorded a couple of things and then deleted both. After deleting the second I got an error message than something "bad" had occurred. But that's not the bad part. From that point forward my username was "associated" with other accounts. I saw someone else's video on MY page. I tried logging in an out, shutting down the browser, but still couldn't get MY page. At one point after logging in instead of my username it had me logged in as null after accepting my credentials. Eventually after trying all kinds of stuff it seemed to figure out who I was.

This is a pretty huge deal for me because the biggest and most important thing to me is that my videos are under my control. Mixing up accounts and the like is a huge problem.

So I thought Qik was great (even better) at the task of displaying video from my phone. But that bug/issue scares me quite a bit.

Again, just some observations from playing around.

It's a bit confusing, but it was doing that because you had no videos; it was just showing you other videos you had recently looked at since you had none of your own. Just having a single video of your own will prevent that, and I think it'll be changing soon to either make what's happening more obvious or not do it at all.

From a quality standpoint, Qik records at 320*240 while FW uses 176*144. It's adjustable in both cases, but Qik still comes out on top when both are set to their maximum levels, and it does so with significantly lower bandwidth utilization (part of why live streaming works so much better on Qik).

Add in the live chat support and it's just no contest.

rofl at that whole paragraph :p As stated if you have no videos there then it shows others it wasn't 'mixing up who you were'.....

GNice - The reason this happened is because when there's no video in the profile, we show you and people visiting your profile the latest live videos so that you and people visiting your profile are not totally disappointed. The moment you have a video - this will stop happening. Seems like that is causing some concern - and we'll look to see how we can improve that experience.

Do keep this feedback coming as this can help us significantly to improve our service for all the iPhone users out there.
