Hello! As it has been noted, there was a bug in iOS 17.4 which prevented certain iOS devices from scanning QR codes. For my purposes, this is specifically related to 7th Gen iPads. This thread here on MacRumors discusses the resolution of this issue with 17.4.1, but in my experience, this was not the case... I still had issues with my 7th Gen iPads scanning barcodes with this update, whether in the native Camera app or with QR scanning functions in third-party applications.

I seemed to notice this issue persisting until iOS 18.1.1, which allowed my iPads to resume QR scanning as usual. The devices continue to work properly with the newer 18.2 update too.

It would be awesome if anyone could corroborate this, or better yet maybe provide specific documentation citing when exactly this issue was fixed wholesale. So far, all I've been able to find online about this was a very brief single comment on a reddit thread. It would really be a big relief to know for certain that this (specific) bug is gone for good. Please help me find some concrete answers! Thanks so much.
