QT 6.4 Interface Differences?

I just updated to quicktime 6.4, and I noticed the interface looks different. I think the 3 dimensional look of the metal interface was toned down. If someone who hasen't updated could post a screenshot of QT 6.3, it would be interesting to see them compared.

I think I like the look better. It's not as bulky. What do you all think?

Yes, it now matches iTunes 4.

I see three things different here.

1. The buttons and engraved.
2. The window control buttons are also engraved now (instead of a shadow).
3. The brushed metal look is less textured.

why does apple insist on still using a custom overlay for quicktime and itunes? seeing as apple created the operating system, i don't think it would be that hard to make a nib based carbon app and use the same brushed metal texture as everything else (ichat, isync, ical). both qt and itunes use their own brushed metal effect as well as their own traffic widgets. apple needs to get on the ball with cleaning up all of the interface refuse that's trailing in the system.

also the little bit at the bottom where the apple logo and resize widget is has been changed and now look curved - kinda reminds me of a panther interface (now! how about that)

I don't like the "toned down" brushed metal look as much as the older brushed metal (like iChat and Safari) they look more washed out and bland in my opinion.

That's a good question. It's surprising that they perform well since they're not much different that the old Mac OS 9.x versions. Still, if they finally modernised everything, they might really work well.

Carbon with .Nib files is fine, Carbon with resources isn't.
