It used to take over 10 hours to compress BD-50 to BD-25 with my old Mac mini 2.26Ghz. Now it only takes like 5 hours to get the job done with the new Mac mini server. I am a happy camper now.
 
what's your config? do the drives have to match if you are not using it with the server software? I do no gaming but want quicker processing of some handbrake and moderate imovie projects. Is this better for me than the 'consumer' models?
for right now, I like the pre-installed 2 drive option, cheaper than the SSD one in the 2.5.
 
I upgraded the RAM to 8GB and setup the two drives to run RAID0. If you don't do gaming, this mini server is perfect for video encoding.
 
The new Mini server is awesome for consumers. It provides that "headless", powerful desktop that people have been wanting for quite some time.

I would agree with you except for one fact. It doesn't have a discrete GPU.
