Quake Live (free version of Quake 3) is going to have a Mac version. Id Software at this years Quakecon said it will be released Tuesday.
:D:D:apple::D

I might have to play this. Downloaded it in Boot Camp but only played it once, but now it is another native Mac game I can see myself playing it more, I hope.

Oh, Tuesday, I thought it was Monday so I was expecting it any minute now. So will it be out tomorrow or Wednesday? For us Aussies I mean.

either late night tomorrow, or early morning on wednesday. bout time they got mac support. they didn't have it when all my friends played which sucked. i had to use my POS windows laptop

tangent: Is id planning on a Mac version of the new Wolfenstein?

I don't know that it looks "must have," but it looks like an enjoyable diversion. As such, I could see myself playing an OS X version much more than I could see myself restarting into Windows, playing, restarting in OS X, and doing more work.

It says that the Mac version is coming soon. If this is a PC game, played with boot camp, thats not really a mac version.

Did I miss something? If they have a Mac version I would love to try it out!

Yep its up and i'm downloading the game files now

in case anyone wonders where the plugin gets saved (if it causes problems) its in the Macintosh HD/library/internet plugin folder and the big files it downloads are kept your accounts "Application support" folder

I played the tutorial round it is really fun. The controls are really customizable and the game looks great. If you like FPS this is a no-brainer.

I just tried it and got "Support for Mac & Linux, along with alternative browsers is under development."

Is there something special that you need to do?

try reloading the page a few times

I got it working now, runs really fast, but not as fun as Urban Terror though

Safari 'unexpectedly quits' every time I exit a match...

This is on Mac OS X 10.5.8 with Safari 4.0.3.

Anyone else having the same issue?

Downloading it now. I wish I could delete my account or reset my account, because I played a few games in Windows. But doesn't matter, I'll just do training again.

This plays great on the Rev C Air! I am playing at the full resolution with a full screen, and no hiccups! I can't seem to load the next level after the tutorial, but I love what I am seeing here!:D

Quake Live is really crashtastic, it almost always crashes Safari. But DAMN is it fun!!!

I forgot what a blast that game is to play.
