Anyone have the Mac version and tried the option to use letter keys instead of numbers for quick chat?

The number keys work fine for me, but I want to use letters--and that option doesn't seem to work for me.

I'll report it as a bug... unless it's just me

In any case, despite a few issues like this that I'm resolving, it's a GREAT game, and amazingly fun even BEFORE I know what the heck I'm doing :)

The Makron will have my face.

I sent a report to Aspyr--but if anyone else can test this and report the issue too, that would help: Aspyr said they won't log the bug unless multiple people report it--which is fair enough!

You just open a ticket here:

And a second bug, if anyone wants to test it: when you change your quality sliders (diffuse, bump, specular) or other setting that requires the game to restart, are your mouse speed choice, crosshair choice, and playername choice reset to default?

Whenever the game restarts for a graphical setting, I find my playername is back to "Player."

And if you don't HAVE Quake Wars, get it--it's the most fun I've had in ages, and I'm not even good at shooters :) This is the first class-based shooter I've tried.

I can't comment on your queries but I just wanted to ask you what system you're playing this game on and what settings you use and if you're getting a decent performance out of it? I've been playing this Quake Wars via Bootcamp for a few months now but am deliberating whether to get it for Mac but I don't want to suffer a performance drop.

You're right too, it is a first-class shooter. It's a shame there isn't a Mac demo like there is on PC and I hope ASPYR update it to 1.5 like SD are about to with the PC version soon or there'll be very few people to play against!

The game is built for Windows, and I expect you WILL see some drop in performance vs. quality. Fine by me: it's worth it for not having to reboot.

I play on a white iMac Core 2 Duo with 7600GT and it runs great--I boosted a few settings above default and set the res higher too. But I can't compare to Windows.

Another possible bug I'm wondering about: Can you throw sticky grenades while sprinting?

Play as Strogg, and then left button will be a regular grenade (shrap or EMP, doesn't matter) and right button will be a sticky grenade. I find that while sprinting (shift key), I can left-fire grenades but right-fire does nothing.
