Quality monitor for mac mini?

Can anyone suggest a good quality monitor to buy that will fit nicely with a mac mini? I am using a 19'' flat panel from Dell right for my PB 12''.

Any good companies/monitors that work well with Apple computers OTHER than their expensive cinema displays?

The big Dell monitors are pretty highly regarded amongst the forums, the 20" and 24"HD widescreen displays are superb value for the money and have a stack of extra inputs so you can use the screen with more than one device.

For your mini, the 2007 and the 2407 FPW displays should be fine.

I agree. Even though they may have 'DELL' printed right on the front and might not 'match' your mac, they are great value monitors.

My vote is for any LCD by Samsung. I have a syncmaster 172x and abosolutely love it even though it isnt a widescreen display. Awsome picture it has. btw doesnt apple use samsung lcd panels in some of their lcd monitors.

Others to check out might be viewsonic, and LG. Sonys seem to be quite good themselves but a bit pricey.

Viewsonic is a very excellent brand of displays, a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Sony is just a brand name these days, nothing they make is very high quality anymore. Just look at their hideous all-in-one PCs.

Dell monitors are wonderful. I have a 2005FPW hooked to my powermac and i love it

Samsungs are great. Good quality, pretty good pricing. LG too.

This is a new question within the thread.

When I was looking at the ACD's the other day, I was completely annoyed by the textured screen. It seemed to produce slight distortion in the picture, especially when it is a solid color. Has anyone noticed this effect, or are my eyes just particularly sensitive?

I have not seen a 24 in Dell monitor in person, but do they have the same problem as the one I described on the ACD?

Excuse the quality from my PC's web cam, but here's the 23" Apple Cinema HD Display with my Mini and a pair of Bose Companion 2 speakers. The overhang on each side is enough to cover the Mini, and perhaps an EyeTV500 (yet to come) on the right side. Because that picture is taken up close with a wide angle lens, the the monitor and computer look smaller relative to the keyboard and mouse. There's 14" of desk between the keyboard and monitor.

I think that monitor looks awesome with the Mini, and the picture, especially with 1080p QuickTimeHD trailers, is eye-watering. I don't see any distortion, but the anti-glare screen does give solid colors a flat look. That isn't a problem with the desktop photo I now use or with movie playback.

Why not just use your exisiting flat panel? You could simply get a KVM switch if you needed to easily switch between the PB and the mini.
